A very practical session: Frédéric explains and helps with downloads and shows functions of Zotero
A reference management software which helps you collect, organize, cite and share your research sources:
• standalone application (independent from Firefox)
• Firefox extension (within the browser)

in the session some people have problems installing Zotero because if you are not working with firefox you need to use the stand-alone beta version and for Google Chrome and Safari you need a connector (IE not yet possible), but you can all find it here.
Zotero is working with tags, similar to the keywords in Litlink

• you can create groups (3 kinds: public: open/close membership; private) to work collaboratively, you can also publish your materials (only bibliographic data in a public group)
At the moment there are only word processor plugins (Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, NeoOffice), it would be useful to also have it for presentations etc.
With this you can directly export data to your text documents
So now we’ve installed Zotero and gone over the basics we can start with some more advanced usage

When a pdf file is stored in Zotero, Zotero can find the corresponding metadata by sending a request to Google Scholar. How does Scholar work out the request remain unclear, Scholar being a “black box”.

Zotero ist eine so genannte ‘reference management software’, die direkt im Webbrowser (Firefox) verfügbar ist, überdies gibt es Verbindungen zu vielen Webseiten und dem zotero.org server, wo man seine Daten synchronisieren und mit anderen zusammenarbeiten kann; die Community hilft mit bei der Weiterentwicklung von Zotero.
Wie sich in der Session herausstellt, ist die Installation nicht so einfach, wenn man nicht mit Firefox arbeitet, man muss mit der Beta-Version (stand-alone) arbeiten und sich für Google Chrome und Safari einen Connector downloaden (IE noch nicht möglich).
Zotero arbeitet mit Tags, ähnlich wie die Schlagworte in Litlink

• weniger Funktionen in der Server-Version
• Möglichkeit Gruppen (3 Arten: public: open/close membership; private ) für Kollaborationen zu bilden, man kann auch Material laden (nur bibliographische Angaben in public Gruppen)
Im Moment gibt es nur Plugins für Textverarbeitung (Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, NeoOffice), Plugins für Präsentationen etc. fehlen noch.
Mit diesem Plugin lassen sich Daten direkt aus Zotero in eine Textdokument exportieren.
Nun ist Zotero installiert und wir haben die Grundfunktionen kennengelernt, jetzt wirds ein bisschen fortgeschrittener
